Traffic Detour on Washington Boulevard Jan. 17-19

Both the north and southbound travel lanes on Washington Boulevard will be completely closed to traffic between North Wise Street and 2nd Street in Arlington from 8p.m. to 5a.m. January 17, 18 and 19, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.

The lane closures will allow crews to safely hoist and install arch shaped concrete beams as part of Route 50 bridge rehabilitation project.

Roadway message signs along Washington Boulevard and Arlington Boulevard are in place warning motorists of the upcoming road closure and detour. The detour route will be well marked to aid motorists not familiar with the area.

The $6.5 million Route 50 bridge rehabilitation project started in November 2005 and will be completed in July 2007.
