Dale Boulevard in Prince William County Washed Out at Mapledale
Road will be closed at least one week
Prince William—All four lanes of Dale Boulevard just west of Mapledale Avenue are closed because the roadway has washed out leaving a 20-foot deep by 25-foot wide hole. The washout occurred at about 4 a.m. this morning according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.
Dale Boulevard is a heavily used commuter route, carrying about 26,000 vehicles per day. The closure is located approximately four miles from Dale Boulevard’s interchange with I-95.
Police have blocked Dale Boulevard at Mapledale Avenue and Nassau Drive. VDOT expects the road will remain closed for at least one week while crews allow the area to dry out, investigate the cause and make emergency repairs.
VDOT is posting detour signs. Motorists heading west on Dale Boulevard will use Ridgefield Road, to Prince William Parkway to Hoadly Road to Dale Boulevard.
Motorists heading east on Dale Boulevard will use Hoadly Road to Prince William Parkway to Ridgefield Road to Dale Boulevard. Local traffic will be able to access their neighborhoods.
