ROUTE 29 SOUTH DETOUR AT BUCKLAND BRIDGE

Southbound Route 29 in western Prince William County will be closed from 7 p.m. Saturday, Sep. 6 until 5 a.m. Monday, Sep. 8 while the Virginia Department of Transportation installs the final section of bridge deck and paves the bridge over Broad Run at Buckland.
The bridge is located just south of Route 15, near the Fauquier County border. Motorists can expect the detour to add 20 to 30 minutes to their travel time. Traffic on northbound Route 29 is not affected by the bridge work.

Detour: Use I-66 West to Route 17 South to Route 29.
VDOT will re-time traffic signals throughout the corridor to maximize traffic flow, place additional signs and variable message boards to further define detoured routes. Prince William County Police and Virginia State Police will be stationed at key intersections to assist with any traffic incidents and keep traffic moving.
The $2.8 million bridge replacement project began in Dec. 2007 and will be completed this fall – much sooner than a traditional bridge project. VDOT is accelerating the project by installing prefabricated concrete deck sections, one per night over three weekends. For more project information and detour maps, visit the project Web site at www.virginiadot.org.
