TRAFFIC ADVISORY: Utility Relocation on Route 7 Service Road Begins
Motorists should expect some delays

Motorists who travel the Route 7 service road in Tysons Corner are advised that work will begin on Tuesday, January 8 to relocate utilities at Gosnell Road. Washington Gas is setting up equipment and staging the area on Jan. 7, and will begin putting in barriers and starting the work the next day. The work being done is in advance of future construction of the Dulles Corridor Metrorail project according to the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (MWAA.)

This work will be done in front of Business Bank in the westbound lane of the Route 7 service road between Gosnell Road and the first Route 7 entrance into the Pike Plaza Shopping Center. Until work is completed in this section, the westbound lane of the service road will be closed to motorists. The eastbound service lane will remain open.

Access to all business will be maintained during the utility relocation work. Variable message signs will be placed in the area to alert motorists to traffic pattern changes on the service road and into businesses.

Once the first section is completed, that portion of the service road will be re-opened. Washington Gas will continue to work in the same lane east to Route 123. The gas line relocation work between Gosnell Road and Route 123 is expected to take approximately four months, weather permitting.

Additional utility relocations for phones, fiber, electric, water, sewer and sanitary drainage lines will follow. The utility relocations are expected to take about two years.

For emergency utility construction-related issues, the public should call the 24-hour-a-day HOTLINE at 877-585-6789. For general Dulles Corridor Metrorail project information visit: www.dullesmetro.com.
