Traffic Alert
Major Traffic Shift on I-66 Eastbound Lanes
MANASSAS – The Virginia Department of Transportation is shifting both I-66 eastbound traffic lanes Thursday afternoon, 19th June 2008, between the Catharpin Road Overpass and the Route 234 Bypass exit ramp as part of the I-66 widening project.
Two lanes traffic will be shifted over to new outer lanes to allow the project to start reconstruction of the inside lanes. The traffic will be separated from this construction with concrete barrier on the left edge of the left lane.
Also, the newly constructed ramp from Route 29 South to I-66 East will be re-opened to allow traffic to merge at the top of the ramp into the right lane of interstate traffic. This ramp was closed last year to allow for reconstruction and a temporary left turn light was installed on Route 29 South. With the new ramp opening, the traffic light on Route 29 South is no longer needed and will be removed.
