CHANTILLY, Va. – The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is milling and paving Richmond Highway for two consecutive nights this week in front of Fort Belvoir’s Tulley Gate. The gate will remain open the entire time.

The paving operation is scheduled for Tuesday, April 21 from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m., Wednesday, April 22, and again Wednesday night, April 22 from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. Thursday, April 23 (all dates weather permitting). Rain dates for the project are Thursday night and Sunday night.

Throughout those nights, the inside lane on north and southbound Richmond Highway will be closed and traffic will be diverted to the outside lanes. In addition to the milling and paving, VDOT crews will be installing guardrail along Route 1 in that area. Flaggers will be on hand to direct traffic through the corridor, and Fairfax County Police will be monitoring traffic throughout the night.
