VDOT CREWS TREATING SUBDIVISIONS
Nearly 1,100 Salt Trucks on the Roads Tonight

FAIRFAX, VA. –  5 p.m. Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) road crews are treating subdivision streets throughout Northern Virginia in preparation for the second round of winter weather expected to begin after midnight.

Interstates and other high volume roads in Northern Virginia have been treated repeatedly throughout the day and are clear and wet.  Crews are now spreading a sand and salt mix on hills, curves and other spots in subdivisions that are prone to freezing. About 1,075 trucks will continue to work throughout the night in anticipation of sleet and freezing rain.

Motorists can call 511 or log onto www.511Virginia.org  for the latest traffic and travel conditions.
