TRAFFIC ALERT: EXPECT TRAFFIC DELAYS IN GAINESVILLE AUG. 20-21
Only one lane open on Route 29

GAINESVILLE ― The Virginia Department of Transportation will close one of two lanes in each direction on Route 29 in Gainesville between I-66 and Linton Hall Road from 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 20 until 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 21.  One lane in each direction will remain open for the half-mile stretch.

Motorists can avoid delays on Route 29 by using I-66 and Route 15.  Message signs will be posted.

The 17-hour closure of the inside north and southbound lanes is needed so that crews can extract a 32-ton, 16-foot-long boring machine that became wedged below the roadway during construction work for the Route 29/Linton Hall Road improvement  project.
