TRAFFIC ALERT: WELLINGTON ROAD CLOSURES NEXT WEEK
Drivers will be detoured overnight July 5-7

FAIRFAX ― Motorists are advised that Wellington Road will be closed for three nights between Route 28 (Nokesville Road) and Dean Drive from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. July 5, 6 and 7, as part of the Route 28 overpass construction in this area.

Message boards are posted to inform drivers in the area of the upcoming closure. The following detours will also be marked:

From Route 28 (Nokesville Road): Use Grant Street to Prince William Street to Wellington Road.

From Wellington Road west of Rt. 28: Use Route 28 north to Grant Street to Prince William Street to Wellington Road.

From Wellington Road east of Route 28: Use Prince William Street to Grant Street to Route 28 south to Wellington Road.

The new $44 million Route 28 overpass at Wellington Road and the Norfolk Southern Railroad in Manassas will eliminate the at-grade railroad crossing, improving safety for motorists and pedestrians and eliminating bottlenecks for train stoppages. The entire project is scheduled for completion in November 2012. More details are available at the project web page here.
