CHANGES TO TELEGRAPH ROAD AT SOUTH VAN DORN STREET AND SOUTH KINGS HIGHWAY
Rush-hour left turns prohibited on Telegraph at South Van Dorn

FAIRFAX―Beginning Monday, July 30, drivers will notice the following changes at the Telegraph Road intersections with South Van Dorn Street and South Kings Highway in an effort to improve traffic operations:

• New signs will be in place to notify drivers that left turns from southbound Telegraph Road to South Kings Highway are prohibited during weekday rush hours (6 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, including holidays).
• The turn bay for left turns from Telegraph Road to South Van Dorn Street has been re-marked and lengthened.
• VDOT engineers have also re-timed the signals at the Telegraph Road intersections with Van Dorn Street and South Kings Highway.

The left-turn restriction aims to improve operations until a longer-term project planned for this location is completed. An estimated $10 million series of improvements to Telegraph Road between South Van Dorn Street and South Kings Highway is scheduled to be advertised for construction in Spring 2013. Visit VDOT's project page for more information.
