I-66 Ramp Closures Scheduled This Week During Overnight Hours
Closures planned at I-66 interchanges with I-495, Route 123 and US Route 50
FAIRFAX, Va. - Ramp closures affecting westbound I-66 are scheduled during overnight hours this Wednesday, August 15 and Thursday, August 16 for construction on the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project. Drivers should follow signed detour routes. Crews will be installing concrete barriers along the newly shifted travel lanes on I-66.
Wednesday, August 15: Ramp from US Route 50 West to I-66 West
- Ramp closure from westbound US Route 50 to westbound I-66 from midnight to 4 a.m. Drivers on US Route 50 will be detoured to the West Ox Road (Route 608) interchange, where they will exit onto southbound West Ox Road, and then take the right exit onto eastbound US Route 50 to westbound I-66.
Wednesday, August 15: Ramp from I-66 West to Chain Bridge Road (Route 123) North and South
- Ramp closure from I-66 West to northbound and southbound Chain Bridge Road (Route 123) from midnight to 4 a.m. Traffic will be detoured to the US Route 50 interchange to exit onto eastbound US Route 50 and then take the left exit onto eastbound I-66 back toward Route 123.
Thursday, August 16: Ramp from I-66 West to I-495 South
- Ramp closures from westbound I-66 to southbound I-495 regular and express lanes from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. Travelers will be detoured to the exit for southbound Nutley Street (Route 243), then take the ramp for eastbound I-66 back toward I-495.
All work is weather dependent and will be rescheduled if inclement weather occurs.
The I-66 Outside the Beltway Express Lanes are expected to open in December 2022.
