SMART TAG/E-ZPASS NIGHT AT THE RICHMOND BRAVES GAME AUG. 29
VDOT will give transponders with $10 in free tolls to first 200 applicants
RICHMOND, Va. – Get two-for-one general admission tickets to the Richmond Braves game on Tues. Aug. 29 simply by showing your Smart Tag/E-ZPass transponder at the ticket window, bringing in your last statement or by going to the Smart Tag Web site and printing out the home page. You can also order tickets online at Ticketmaster.
Smart Tag/E-ZPass is sponsoring the Richmond Braves versus Indianapolis Indians game at 7 p.m. Aug. 29 to draw attention to Virginia’s electronic tolling program. Ticket holders can apply for a Smart Tag/E-ZPass at the game, and the first 200 applicants who complete the application and sign up for automatic replenishment with a bank card will receive a working transponder with $10 of free tolls.
“We want to provide instant gratification for people who take the time to complete an application at the game,” said Deborah Brown, innovative finance and revenue operations division administrator. “They can use Smart Tag/E-ZPass lanes immediately and enjoy a faster trip home from the game that night and to work the next day.”
Smart Tag and E-ZPass are automatic electronic toll collection systems that have joined forces to move traffic through toll facilities in Virginia and along much of the East Coast. Motorists with a Smart Tag/E-ZPass transponder mounted on the inside of the windshield or on the license plate, can travel through clearly marked Smart Tag and/or E-ZPass toll lanes and the toll is automatically deducted from a pre-paid account.
In addition to the Smart Tag/E-ZPass promotion, Aug. 29 is also $1 hotdog night.
John Smith, who was issued the one-millionth Smart Tag/E-ZPass transponder on May 24, will throw out the first pitch. For more information, visit the Smart Tag Web site.
