TRANSPORTATION COMMISSIONER APPROVES SEVEN CENTRAL VIRGINIA CONTRACTS VALUED AT $7.8 MILLION
RICHMOND— Virginia Department of Transportation Commissioner David Ekern approved seven contracts yesterday valued at approximately $7.8 million for central Virginia construction and maintenance.
Interstate Construction Corp. of Rockville, Virginia was awarded a $1.9 million contract to repave more than two miles of the eastbound side of Rt. 360 (Hull Street Rd.) just east of the Amelia County/Chesterfield County line. The project also includes pavement marker upgrades. This section of road accommodates 17,000 vehicles per day, nine percent of which are trucks. Estimated completion is July 2008.
Blakemore Construction Corp. of Richmond, Virginia was awarded a $1.7 million contract to add raised medians, curbs, gutters and sidewalks to one-half mile of Rt. 1 in Ashland between Pleasant St. and England St. Lane closures will be restricted to non peak hours. Estimated completion is April 2009.
Horace A. Davis Excavating, Inc. of Ford, Virginia was awarded a $132,000 contract to make minor repairs to seven drainage locations in Dinwiddie and Prince George counties. Estimated completion is June 2008.
The following companies were awarded a contract to provide asphalt surface treatment and upgrade pavement markings for several locations in the Richmond area:

- $767,000 contract to J.S. Myers Company, Inc. of Yadkinville, North Carolina
