VDOT Completes Prince George Project Ahead of Schedule and Under Budget
PRINCE GEORGE COUNTY, Va.— The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) continues to improve its delivery of on-time and on-budget construction and maintenance projects, completing intersection improvements to Route 460 in Prince George County more than five months ahead of schedule at a savings of nearly $350,000 or 12 percent of the originally allotted contract amount.
Contractor, Howard Brothers Contractors, Inc., began the $2.5 million intersection improvements in March 2006 and completed the work on January 10, 2007. The project involved paving, improved drainage and signal modifications along Route 460 at Bull Hill Road (Route 630) and new turn lanes at both the Bull Hill Road and Rives Road (Route 629) intersections.
“This is an outstanding combined performance by VDOT employees, our private sector construction partners and our consultant inspectors,” said Christopher Winstead, P.E., VDOT district construction engineer. “Our team focus on results is returning measurable time and cost savings to the traveling public.”
