VDOT TO HOLD MEETINGS ON ITS BICYCLE AND PEDESTRIAN PROGRAM
COLONIAL HEIGHTS — The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will hold three informal meetings in the Richmond District to provide information about its bicycle and pedestrian program. The meetings will allow citizens interested in bicycling and walking to discuss the program with VDOT representatives.
The meetings will be held in Richmond, Alberta and Petersburg as follows:
Richmond – Wednesday, May 9, 2007
Richmond Regional Planning District Commission Office
2104 Laburnum Ave., Suite 101
Richmond, VA 23227
5 – 6:30 p.m.
Alberta (Brunswick County) – Tuesday, May 15, 2007
Southside Virginia Community College
6:30 – 8 p.m.
Petersburg – Wednesday, May 16, 2007
Petersburg Train Station
6:30 – 8 p.m.
VDOT representatives will begin the meetings with a presentation about the bicycle and pedestrian policy with open discussion about the program to follow. Area residents, businesses and commuters are encouraged to attend.
The bicycle and pedestrian program was formed to ensure that bicycling, walking and other modes of non-motorized transportation would be included in the planning, design, construction and operation of Virginia’s transportation network.
To learn more about these meetings, please contact: Mark Riblett, VDOT Richmond District Transportation Planner at (804) 524-6151
