TRANSPORTATION BOARD APPROVES TWO CENTRAL VIRGINIA CONTRACTS VALUED AT $7.3 MILLION
RICHMOND—The Commonwealth Transportation Board (CTB) approved two contracts today valued at approximately $7.3 million for central Virginia construction and maintenance.
Branscome, Inc. of Williamsburg, Virginia was awarded a $5 million contract to repair and overlay a section of I-295 north with 5.5 inches of asphalt between Rt. 33 (mile marker 49) and just south of Nuckols Rd. (mile marker 52) in Henrico County. The project also includes underdrain and rumble strip installation and guardrail replacement. Motorists can expect overnight lane closures and some daytime construction during non-peak hours. Improvements to this section of I-295 will begin this summer and is expected to be completed by Nov. 2008.
This repaving is part of an ongoing improvement project to repair and rehabilitate deficient pavement along I-295. More information about the I-295 repaving project is available at http://www.virginiadot.org/projects/richmond/i-295_repaving_and_repairs.asp.
Blakemore Construction Corp. of Richmond, Virginia was awarded a $2.3 million contract to rehabilitate existing pavement along Rt. 13 in Powhatan County and Rt. 6 in Goochland County. Project completion is expected in Sept. 2008.
- Rt. 13: Approximately four miles of Rt. 13 will be repaved from one mile north of Rt. 627 to just south of Rt. 1002.
- Rt. 6: Approximately four miles of Rt. 6 will be repaved from one mile east of Rt. 680 to two miles east of Rt. 615.
