TRANSPORTATION COMMISSIONER APPROVES SEVEN CENTRAL VIRGINIA CONTRACTS VALUED AT MORE THAN $6 MILLION
RICHMOND— Virginia Department of Transportation Commissioner David Ekern approved seven contracts Wed. valued at more than $6 million for central Virginia construction and maintenance.
Denton Concrete Services Company of Saint Clair Shores, Michigan was awarded a $1.9 million contract to repair and replace concrete pavement along Rt. 288 north between I-95 and the Powhite Parkway (Rt. 76) in Chesterfield County. Estimated completion is Oct. 2008.
Branscome, Inc. of Williamsburg, Virginia was awarded a $1.7 million contract to rehabilitate the pavement on Rt. 460 east and west at Prince George Dr. (Rt. 156) in Prince George County. Estimated completion is Sept. 2008.
Slurry Pavers, Inc. of Glen Allen, Virginia was awarded a $1.6 million contract to seal pavement in various locations in the Richmond District.
Payne’s Parking Designs, Inc. of Bealeton, Virginia was awarded a $392,000 contract to install pavement markings along interstate, primary and secondary roads in Brunswick, Dinwiddie, Lunenburg, Mecklenburg, Nottoway, Prince George and Amelia counties. To reduce impact to motorists, lane closures will be implemented during off-peak hours. Estimated completion is Aug. 2008.
Clary Construction Company, Inc. of Lawrenceville, Virginia was awarded a $261,000 contract to pave Durham Rd. in Brunswick County as part of VDOT’s Rural Rustic program. Estimated completion by Oct. 2008.
Hurricane Fence Company of Richmond, Virginia was awarded an $88,000 contract to replace 1.5 miles of fencing along I-64 east beginning at the Shallowell Rd. (Rt. 654) overpass in Goochland County and a small section of fencing along I-95 south near Rt. 54 (Exit 92) in Ashland. The work will include removal of the existing fences and seeding all disturbed areas. A shoulder closure will be required during the project. Estimated completion is June 2008.
Colony Construction, Inc. of Powhatan, Virginia was awarded a $77,000 contract to install a 1,000 foot long sidewalk from the intersection of Hickory Rd. (Rt. 628) and River Rd. (Rt. 36) to the intersection of Granger St. and Chesterfield Ave. in the Ettrick area of Chesterfield County. Estimated completion is July 2008.
