COLONIAL HEIGHTS—Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) Commissioner David Ekern approved a contract last week valued at approximately $126,000 for traffic signal improvements in Hopewell.  

B & B Signal Company LLC of Manassas was awarded a contract valued at $126,000 to replace the existing signal computer cabinets and synchronizing signals along Oaklawn Boulevard (Route 36) between the Lee Gate at Fort Lee and Jefferson Park Road (Route 630) in Hopewell. The signal improvements will improve traffic flow along the Route 36 corridor, particularly for Fort Lee commuters. Construction activities will have minimal impact on traffic and will take place December 2009 through April 2010.
