TRANSPORTATION COMMISSIONER APPROVES A POWHATAN PAVING CONTRACT

COLONIAL HEIGHTS—Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) Commissioner David Ekern approved a contract last week valued at approximately $756,000 for pavement improvements in Powhatan County.

Colony Construction Inc. of Powhatan was awarded a contract valued at $756,000 to overlay more than 1.5 miles of existing asphalt pavement along Route 60 west between Dorset Road (Route 622) and Red Lane Road (Route 628) in Powhatan County. The contractor will keep one travel lane open during construction. Drivers can expect work during the day and overnight. Warm surface temperatures are required for proper asphalt overlay. Therefore, construction will begin in March 2010. VDOT anticipates completion by May 2010.
