TRANSPORTATION COMMISSIONER APPROVES TWO CENTRAL VIRGINIA CONTRACTS VALUED AT $547,000
RICHMOND— Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) Commissioner David Ekern approved two contracts yesterday valued at approximately $547,000 for central Virginia construction and maintenance.
Blakemore Construction Corporation of Richmond, Virginia was awarded a $289,000 contract to construct an additional left turn lane from Parham Road east to Route 1 (Brook Road) north in Henrico County. The project also includes traffic signal and pavement marking modifications. Construction may require temporary lane shifts and detours. Completion is expected in August 2009.
Howard Brothers Contractor Inc. of Providence Forge, Virginia was awarded a $258,000 contract to improve shoulders and widen the pavement along Branders Bridge Road just north of Whitehouse Road in Chesterfield County. Drivers will continue to have access to Branders Bridge Road during construction. Completion is expected in October 2009.
