TRANSPORTATION COMMISSIONER APPROVES A CONTRACT VALUED AT $11.7 MILLION
COLONIAL HEIGHTS—Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) Commissioner Greg Whirley approved a contract yesterday valued at $11.7 million for Richmond area construction.
Curtis Contracting, Inc of West Point was awarded a contract to complete the first phase of a new interchange on I-295 at Meadowville Road (Route 618) to provide access to the Meadowville Technology Park in Chesterfield County.
The project will include construction of interchange ramps and auxiliary lanes along I-295 between the new interchange and the Route 10 interchange. Meadowville Road will also be upgraded to include additional lanes, intersection improvements, new overhead signs along I-295 and new storm water management facilities. This work will complete the first phase of the cloverleaf interchange that will include collector-distributor lanes. Work is expected to be completed by December 2011.
