TRANSPORTATION COMMISSIONER APPROVES FIVE RICHMOND DISTRICT CONTRACTS VALUED AT $3.7 MILLION
COLONIAL HEIGHTS—Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) Acting Commissioner Greg Whirley approved five contracts last Friday valued at approximately $3.7 million for Richmond area construction and maintenance.
B. P. Short and Son Paving Company Inc. of Petersburg was awarded a $1.2 million asphalt paving contract for various locations in Amelia County throughout 2010.
In addition, approximately $2.5 million was awarded to the following contractors for road surface improvements in the Richmond District:
• Whitehurst Paving Company, Inc. of Richmond was awarded two contracts; one for $523,000 million for pavement improvements in Amelia, Nottoway and Lunenburg counties; the second for $663,000 to treat pavement in Dinwiddie and Prince George counties.
• Payne Paving Company, Inc. of Scottsville was also awarded two contracts; one for $823,000 for pavement improvements in Goochland, Hanover, Mechanicsville, New Kent and Charles City counties; the other for $553,000 to treat pavement in Brunswick and Mecklenburg counties.
