COMMISSIONER APPROVES FOUR CONTRACTS VALUED AT $3.2 MILLION
COLONIAL HEIGHTS — The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) Commissioner of Highways Greg Whirley approved four contracts between late July and August totaling approximately $3.2 million for Richmond District construction and maintenance.
Whitehurst Paving Company Inc. of Richmond was awarded a $2 million contract for pavement improvements for various secondary routes in Amelia, Chesterfield and Powhatan counties. The work started this month and is expected to be completed by June 2013
Burleigh Construction Company Inc. of Concord was awarded a $963,000 contract to replace and rehabilitate drainage in Dinwiddie, Powhatan and Prince George counties. Work will begin next month and is expected to be completed by May 2013.
Lanco Paving Inc. of Virgilina was awarded a $106,000 contract to pave Bobcat Road (Route 689), a 0.6 mile long unpaved road, between Tranquility Road (Route 628) and Anderson Mill Road (Route 629) in Dinwiddie County. The work is expected to begin in late September and be completed in November.
Graham Concrete LLC of Richmond was awarded a $90,000 contract to construct a 950 foot concrete sidewalk parallel to Midlothian Turnpike (Route 60) east at Woolridge Road (Route 668) in Chesterfield County to tie into an existing sidewalk. The project is expected to begin in mid September and be completed in November.
VDOT’s Richmond District oversees maintenance and construction activities on routes in 14 counties in central Virginia: Amelia, Brunswick, Charles City, Chesterfield, Dinwiddie, Goochland, Hanover, Henrico (primary routes only), Lunenburg, Mecklenburg, New Kent, Nottoway, Powhatan and Prince George counties.
