ROUTE 666 BRIDGE OVER STONY CREEK CLOSING MAY 1 FOR REPLACEMENT
Bridge expected to reopen to traffic by late August
COLONIAL HEIGHTS—The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is closing the Route 666 (Baugh Road) bridge over Stony Creek in Dinwiddie County for a scheduled replacement beginning May 1. Crews are replacing the bridge’s superstructure, which was originally constructed in 1953. The bridge is expected to reopen to traffic by late August.
During replacement, VDOT recommends drivers use the following detour routes:
- Eastbound Route 666 – Take Shady Lane (Route 670) west to Ole Bole Road (Route 682) west to Old Stage Road (Route 609) south to Flatfoot Road (Route 626) east back to Baugh Road (Route 666) east.
- Westbound Route 666 – Take Flatfoot Road (Route 626) west to Old Stage Road (Route 609) north to Ole Bole Road (Route 682) east to Shady Lane (Route 670) east back to Baugh Road (Route 666) west.
VDOT has posted electronic message signs at intersections near the bridge to notify drivers of the closure and has directional signs posted along the detour route. Drivers are encouraged to allow extra time to reach their destination.
