COMPLETED PROJECT PROVIDES IMPROVED CONNECTIVITY AT HENRICO INTERSECTION
Bicycle and pedestrian accommodations project complete ahead of schedule, under budget at River and Huguenot Roads
Cyclists and pedestrians now have new sidewalks, crosswalks and upgraded signals for improved safety
HENRICO – The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) has completed a safety improvements project at the intersection of Huguenot Road and River Road in Henrico County ahead of schedule and under budget.
The improvements include new sidewalks, intersection pedestrian crosswalks and signal modifications, as well as a pedestrian/bicycle path from Gambles Mill Road. This $1 million project will improve the safety of pedestrians and bicyclists.
"These improvements will build on an already growing network of cyclist and pedestrian accommodations within the region,” said Mark Riblett, P.E., assistant district engineer for project development and planning. “The new accommodations will provide safer travel and improved intermodal connectivity in an area near retail, residential, recreational facilities and the University of Richmond.”
Approximately 35,000 vehicles travel through this area per day.
