TROPICAL STORM MICHAEL RECOVERY UPDATE
Work shifting to long-term repairs

South Chesterfield – After repairing and reopening approximately 200 roads in the region, Virginia Department of Transportation crews are shifting to rebuilding roads that require extensive repairs.

Crews are finishing repairs on a small number of roads that are expected to reopen within the next week and developing long-term construction plans for seven roads in the region. In addition, a number of roads remain covered by high water.

The following roads are expected to be reopened in the next 7-10 days.

  • Denisville Rd. (Rt. 614) over West Creek in Amelia County.
  • Cary Shop Rd. (Rt. 624) over Horsepen Branch in Nottoway County.
  • Petersburg Rd. (Rt. 603) over Butterwood Creek in Powhatan County.

The following roads require extensive repairs. There are no timelines for reopening at this point.

  • Bent Creek Rd. (Rt. 643) over Little Bent Creek in Amelia County.
  • Mt. Herman Rd. (Rt. 606) over Otterdale Branch in Chesterfield County.
  • Juniper Creek Ln. (Rt. 691) over Big Juniper Creek in Lunenburg County.
  • High House Rd. (Rt. 683) between Rt. 47 and the Charlotte County line in Mecklenburg County.
  • Germantown Rd. (Rt. 685) over Spring Creek in Lunenburg County.
  • Wards Corner Rd. (Rt. 688) over Big Juniper Creek in Lunenburg County.
  • Bethel Church Rd. (Rt. 625) over Nottoway River at the Lunenburg/Nottoway County line.

The following roads are still covered by high water. Roads and bridges covered by water must be inspected before they can be reopened to traffic.

  • Giles Rd. (Rt. 637) in Amelia County.
  • Stony Point Rd. (Rt. 620) in Amelia County.
  • Wilkerson Rd. (Rt. 677) in Mecklenburg County.
  • Mill Creek Rd. (Rt. 826) in Mecklenburg County.
  • W. Orgainsville Rd. (Rt. 640) in Mecklenburg County.
  • Old National Hwy. (Rt. 821) in Mecklenburg County.
  • Rogers Rd. (Rt. 693) in Mecklenburg County.
  • Skipwith Rd. (Rt. 688) in Mecklenburg County.
  • Jeffress Rd. (Rt. 702) in Mecklenburg County.
  • Third St. (Rt. 1106) in Mecklenburg County.
  • Bull Rd. (Rt. 730) in Mecklenburg County.
  • Trottingridge Rd. (Rt. 609) in Mecklenburg County.
  • Pooles Mill Rd. (Rt. 722) in Mecklenburg County.
