In 1997, Sutton joined VDOT’s Bedford Residency Office as assistant resident engineer.   He was promoted to residency administrator in 2003.

Sutton and his wife, Bettie, live in Forest.  After retiring from VDOT, he plans to enjoy hunting and boating on Smith Mountain Lake.
