TRAFFIC ALERT: BRANDON AVENUE BRIDGE WORK IN ROANOKE BEGINS AFTER LABOR DAY
Weather permitting, on Tuesday, Sept. 2, work will begin to replace the riding surface of the Brandon Avenue bridge over the Route 220 Expressway. The bridge is located between Franklin Road and Colonial Avenue in Roanoke.
During the bridge work, traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction, and concrete barrier wall will be installed. Vehicles wider than 10 feet will be prohibited from crossing the bridge. Motorists should use caution in the work zone and expect changing traffic patterns.
In addition, the sidewalk on the south side of the bridge will be closed. Pedestrians will be rerouted to the north side of the bridge behind the concrete barrier wall.
Estimated completion is in mid-November.
