TRAFFIC ALERT: PAVING ON SOUTHBOUND INTERSTATE 77 IN CARROLL COUNTY TO IMPACT TRAFFIC

Weather permitting, starting Monday, Oct. 6, drivers can expect daily lane closures on southbound Interstate 77 in Carroll County between mile markers 16 and 10 due to paving.  Lane closures will be in place daily, Monday, Oct. 6 through Wednesday, Oct. 8.

Paving is expected to begin in late morning and continue into the evening hours each day. The exact hours of the paving are subject to temperature and weather conditions.

The Virginia Department of Transportation had originally scheduled the paving operation on southbound I-77 for nighttime hours between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. to lessen the impact on traffic.

However, recent cooler nighttime temperatures have required that VDOT extend the hours of paving operations into the daytime as well.

As temperatures and weather permit, daily paving on southbound I-77 will begin in early to late morning and will continue into the evening hours until temperatures lower.  Weather permitting, paving on southbound I-77 in Carroll County is expected to continue throughout the month of October.
