TRAFFIC ALERT: BRIDGE REPAIRS COMPLETED ON SOUTHBOUND INTERSTATE 81 IN PULASKI COUNTY
Both southbound lanes of I-81 are now open at mile marker 97.
On Wednesday, Oct. 15, crews completed the emergency repairs on the southbound Interstate 81 bridge over Route 611 (Newbern Road) in Pulaski County. All southbound lanes at mile marker 97 are now open. The nature of the bridge repairs required reducing southbound I-81 to one lane at this location until the work was completed. The repairs have been finished one month ahead of schedule.
The I-81 bridge over Route 611 was damaged on Tuesday, Aug. 26 when an over height vehicle struck the bridge. An emergency repair contract was awarded to contractor DLB, Inc. for $272,810.
