TRAFFIC ALERT: REPAIRS BEGIN ON THE INTERSTATE 81 BRIDGE OVER ROUTE 611 IN PULASKI COUNTY
Route 611 will be closed to through traffic while the bridge is repaired

Beginning Monday, Sept. 22, Route 611 (Newbern Road) in Pulaski County will be closed to through traffic, so crews can repair the southbound Interstate 81 bridge over Route 611.

Traffic will be detoured from Route 611 onto Route 643 (Cougar Trail) and F-047, a frontage road.   Route 611 is expected to remain closed in this area through mid-November.

The left lane of the southbound I-81 bridge at mile marker 97 will remain closed until crews complete the repairs. Two travel lanes on the right lane and shoulder are expected to remain open on southbound Interstate 81.  The speed limit in this area has been reduced to 45 mph.  Motorists are advised to use caution in the area.

On Tuesday, Aug. 26, an over height vehicle damaged the Interstate 81 bridge over Route 611.  An emergency repair contract has been awarded to contractor DLB, Inc. for $272,810.  The estimated completion date for the repairs is mid-November.
