ROUTE 58 TRAFFIC PATTERN WEST OF HILLSVILLE CHANGES DURING DAYLIGHT HOURS NEXT WEEK
SALEM – As part of the current Route 58 Hillsville Bypass construction project, some changes in traffic patterns are planned on Route 58 during the week of May 18, weather permitting.
Since last year, Route 58 traffic between the west limits of Hillsville and Interstate 77 has been reduced to one lane in each direction and shifted into the westbound lanes.
Next week, two-way traffic on Route 58 will be switched from the westbound lanes into the eastbound lanes between 7 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. for approximately three days, so overhead bridge beams can be placed.
In addition, once Route 58 traffic is shifted into the eastbound lanes, flaggers also may need to stop it periodically between 7 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Drivers can expect only periodic delays.
Electronic message boards will be in place on Route 58 to alert motorists to the change in traffic patterns.
All work on the Route 58 Hillsville Bypass project is expected to be completed by November 2011.
