TRAFFIC ALERT: TRUCK TRAFFIC CAN EXPECT DELAYS ON ROUTE 773 BRIDGE OVER DAN RIVER IN PATRICK COUNTY

Weather permitting, on Tuesday, March 31, concrete will be poured on the Route 773 (Ararat Highway) bridge over the Dan River in Patrick County.  The bridge is located west of Claudville.  Currently, traffic across the bridge is reduced to one lane as part of ongoing repairs, and a temporary signal is controlling traffic.

Starting at 8 a.m., equipment needed to complete the concrete pour will be put into place on Route 773, and the open lane in this work zone will be narrowed. This narrowed lane will remain in place throughout the day until the concrete cures.

Because this lane will be narrowed by equipment and the work zone is located in a curve, trucks will have difficulty maneuvering on the bridge while this work is being performed.  Flaggers will be present to assist larger vehicles passing through work zone.

However, motorists, particularly commercial vehicle drivers, are advised to expect lengthy delays or seek alternate routes.
