Part of Merriman Road Will Be Closed To Traffic in Roanoke County
Traffic will be detoured June 11 through August 23

ROANOKE COUNTY, VA (May 25, 2010) – Beginning at 6:00 a.m. on Friday, June 11, Route 613 (Merriman Road) will be closed to through traffic between Route 800 (Chaparral Drive) and Route 904 (Starkey Road) in southwest Roanoke County. The intersection of Route 1564 (Meadowlark Road) and Merriman Road will also be closed to motorists. Traffic will be detoured in these areas through August 23.

Crews will be working to construct a roundabout at the intersection of Meadowlark Road and Merriman Road as part of traffic improvements to Merriman Road and construction of an entrance to what will be the new South County Library. This is a locally administered project being constructed with Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) and Roanoke County revenue sharing funds.

The following detours have been established:

From the intersection of Merriman Road and Chaparral Drive:
Drivers should follow Chaparral Drive; turn right on Penn Forest Boulevard, then right on Starkey Road

From the intersection of Buck Mountain Road and Starkey Road:
Drivers should follow Starkey Road north; turn left on Penn Forest Boulevard, then left on Chaparral Drive

From the intersection of Starkey Road and Merriman Road:
Drivers should follow Starkey Road north; turn left on Penn Forest Boulevard, then left on Chaparral Drive
