TRAFFIC ALERT: NORTHBOUND ROUTE 220 IN ROANOKE COUNTY WILL BE REDUCED TO ONE LANE FOR BRIDGE WORK
SALEM – Beginning Sunday night, Sept. 12, a portion of northbound Route 220 in Roanoke County will be reduced to one lane while crews perform bridge work.
The Route 220 bridge over Back Creek near Crowell Gap Road will be reduced to one lane while crews repair the bridge deck. The repairs are expected to take up to four weeks. A permanent left lane closure will be in place while repairs are made. A vehicle width restriction of 11 feet will also be in place during this time.
Motorists are advised to use caution in the area and allow extra travel time, particularly during the morning commute. Signs and message boards have been placed on Route 220 to advise motorists of the upcoming lane closure.
