VDOT REMOVES NORTHBOUND ROUTE 220 LANE CLOSURE IN ROANOKE COUNTY IN TIME FOR MARTINSVILLE RACE
The lane closure now is expected to removed on Thursday, Oct. 21

The Virginia Department of Transportation has good news for race fans driving from Martinsville to Roanoke on northbound Route 220 after this weekend’s TUMS Fast Relief 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup race.   All northbound lanes of Route 220 now will be open.

VDOT has been working on the northbound Route 220 bridge over Back Creek in Roanoke County since September, but recent heavy rains had delayed progress on the repairs.

VDOT previously had announced that the lane closure on northbound Route 220 would increase traffic congestion and delays following Sunday’s race.  However, VDOT crews were able to complete the work sooner than anticipated and get the lane open earlier.
