VDOT HOLDS CITIZEN INFORMATION MEETING FOR A TRAFFIC SAFETY IMPROVEMENT PROJECT ON INTERSTATE 77 IN CARROLL COUNTY
SALEM—The Virginia Department of Transportation will hold a citizen information meeting to discuss proposed plans to improve traffic safety and management systems for the section of I-77, northbound and southbound, that starts at mile marker 0 at the North Carolina state line and extends to mile marker 12 in Carroll County.
The primary purpose of the project is to improve safety during low visibility conditions on Fancy Gap Mountain. The proposed plan suggests the use of variable speed limit signs, roadway weather information systems, traffic cameras and electronic message boards.
The meeting will be held on Wednesday, May 16, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Lambsburg Community Center, 130 Learning Lane, Lambsburg, VA 24351.
