VDOT HOLDS PUBLIC HEARING FOR RESEARCH CENTER DRIVE INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENTS IN THE TOWN OF BLACKSBURG

SALEM —The Virginia Department of Transportation will hold a design public hearing on a proposed project to improve the intersection of Research Center Drive, Industrial Park Road and the ramps onto Route 460 in the Town of Blacksburg. The 0.3-mile project begins 0.08 mile east of Research Center Drive and extends to 0.22 mile north of Industrial Park Road.
  
The hearing will be held on Thursday, Oct. 11, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Virginia Tech Corporate Research Center located at 1715 Pratt Drive, Building Number 12, Suite 1500 in Blacksburg.

This hearing is being held to provide an opportunity for citizens or organizations to give VDOT input on the proposed project.  The hearing will be held in an open-house format with no formal presentation given.  VDOT representatives will be present to discuss the proposed project and to answer questions.

The project includes adding turn lanes, reconfiguring the existing signal, adding pedestrian accommodations and installing continuous curb and gutter.

Comments about the proposed project may be submitted at the hearing or until October 21, 2012 by mailing them to Mr. Mark McKissick, P.E., Project Manager, Virginia Department of Transportation, P.O.
