VDOT HOLDS PUBLIC INFORMATION MEETING ON ROUTE 58 TRI-COUNTY WIDENING PROJECT
SALEM — The Virginia Department of Transportation will hold a public information meeting to share details regarding the $120 million road construction project that is currently underway to widen 8.2 miles of Route 58 in Carroll, Floyd and Patrick counties. The section of Route 58 is between Meadows of Dan and Laurel Fork.
The meeting will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 16, at the Laurel Fork Community Center located at 13386 Danville Pike in Laurel Fork. The meeting will take place from 6 to 7:30 p.m. with a brief presentation about the project at 6:15 p.m.
Information about the project will be available for the public to review. Project representatives from VDOT and contractor, Branch Highways, Inc., will be present to answer questions about construction time frames, traffic impacts and access to businesses.
The project entails widening the current two-lane section of Route 58 to a four-lane highway with grassy medians in some areas.
Work on the project is expected to be completed by fall 2015.
