SALEM DISTRICT: COMMUTERS SHOULD WATCH FOR POSSIBLE ICY SPOTS, PARTICULARLY ON BRIDGES AND OVERPASSES

SALEM – Rain continues to fall this morning throughout southwest Virginia.  So far, roads are mostly wet, but with temperatures hovering around freezing, there is the possibility of icy spots in cooler areas.  Motorists should use caution, particularly on bridges, overpasses and elevated surfaces which can ice up first.

Virginia Department of Transportation crews are continuing to monitor road conditions this morning and will be treating roads as needed.

Traffic and road condition information can be obtained by dialing 511 or visiting 511Virginia.org.

The Salem District includes the counties of Bedford, Botetourt, Carroll, Craig, Floyd, Franklin, Giles, Henry, Montgomery, Patrick, Pulaski and Roanoke.
