SALEM DISTRICT: COMMUTERS SHOULD WATCH FOR POSSIBLE ICY SPOTS, PARTICULARLY ON BRIDGES AND OVERPASSES
SALEM – A wintry mixture of snow, sleet and rain continues to fall this evening in various areas in southwest Virginia. At this time, roads are mostly wet, but with temperatures hovering around freezing, there is the possibility of icy spots on the roads in cooler areas and higher elevations. Motorists should use caution, particularly on bridges, overpasses and elevated surfaces which may produce icy conditions first.
Virginia Department of Transportation crews have been out clearing roads as needed and will continue to monitor and address road conditions overnight.
Traffic and road condition information can be obtained by dialing 511 or visiting 511Virginia.org.
The Salem District includes the counties of Bedford, Botetourt, Carroll, Craig, Floyd, Franklin, Giles, Henry, Montgomery, Patrick, Pulaski and Roanoke.
