TRAFFIC ALERT: ROUTE 122 IN FRANKLIN COUNTY TO BE REDUCED TO ONE LANE FOR BRIDGE WORK

SALEM – As part of work to replace the bridge over Gills Creek in Franklin County, Route 122 traffic will be reduced to one lane starting on Wednesday, April 23.

The bridge is located 2.3 miles north of Route 116 (Jubal Early Highway) and approximately one mile south of Route 634 (Harmony School Road) in the Burnt Chimney area.

Temporary traffic signals will be installed to control traffic on the bridge, and vehicles wider than 12 feet will be prohibited.  The speed limit in this work zone is to 45 mph.  Drivers should expect delays.  

Message boards are in place to alert drivers to the upcoming change.

This project is expected to be completed in fall of 2014.
