TRAFFIC ALERT: INTERSTATE 81 SOUTHBOUND REMAINS BLOCKED AT MILE MARKER 139 IN ROANOKE COUNTY
Drivers should expect delays during evening commute and plan accordingly

SALEM — Virginia State Police continue their investigation of a crash on southbound I-81 at mile marker 139 that occurred earlier today. A detour remains in place at exit 141.

No exact time for re-opening southbound I-81 has been determined, but the closure is expected to remain in place into rush hour. Once the police conclude their activities, clean-up of the crash location will begin.

Drivers should expect delays or seek alternate routes. Congestion on southbound and northbound I-81 is approximately four miles and alternate routes throughout the City of Salem remain congested.
