VDOT READY FOR STATEWIDE WINTRY MIX
Motorists urged to use caution and go to 511Virginia.org for latest road conditions
RICHMOND, Va. – Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) crews across the commonwealth are mobilizing for the first winter weather event of the 2017-2018 season. The weather system is predicted to bring lower temperatures and a mix of precipitation ranging from rain to light snow in various parts of the state today and Saturday.
VDOT is pretreating roads where appropriate. Motorists should exercise caution during the evening rush hour and tomorrow, as road conditions may be wet and slushy.
Motorists are also encouraged to allow extra time to reach destinations, lower speed and keep a safe distance from other vehicles. As drivers encounter slow-moving equipment such as snowplows, slow down and allow operators the right of way.
