MAJOR TRAFFIC BACKUPS CLEARED ON I-81 IN SHENANDOAH VALLEY

STAUNTON – Major traffic backups have cleared on Interstate 81 this evening following several accidents and heavy holiday traffic volumes occurring earlier this afternoon.

Currently there is an accident in Augusta County on I-81 southbound at mile marker 236 near the Rockingham County line. There is a three-mile back up.

An accident on Interstate 81 southbound in Frederick County at mile marker 315 in the Winchester area has cleared. All backups in this area have dissipated.

Congestion is on I-81 in Rockbridge County southbound from exit 191 at the I-64 interchange to mile marker 184 south of Lexington has cleared. An accident at mile marker 184 has been cleared.
