ALL LANES OPEN AT I-81 NORTHBOUND ACCIDENT IN NORTHERN AUGUSTA COUNTY
STAUNTON – (3:15 p.m.) All lanes are now open on Interstate 81 at mile marker 235 northbound. Motorists are experiencing congestion in the area. Back-ups extended 13 miles according to the Virginia Department of Transportation Staunton Traffic Operations Center.
At approximately 12:30 p.m. a multi-vehicle accident closed both northbound lanes. One lane was reopened around 1:35 p.m. The accident location is just south of exit 235 at Route 256 in the Weyers Cave area.
Motorist should use extreme caution in this area and expect significant delays.
The VDOT Staunton District serves Frederick, Shenandoah, Clarke, Warren, Page, Rockingham, Augusta, Highland, Rockbridge, Alleghany and Bath counties.
