ONE LANE REOPENS AT I-81 MILE MARKER 284 SOUTHBOUND
STAUNTON – 6:50 p.m. – One lane has reopened on Interstate 81 southbound in Shenandoah County at mile marker 284 due to a tractor trailer accident and medical helicopter assistance. This is located between exit 291 at Route 651 in the Toms Brook area and exit 283 at Route 42 in the Woodstock area. The left lane has reopened.
Motorists should expect significant delays in this area with backups reaching six miles. A detour is set up. Drivers should exit I-81 at exit 291 and take Route 11 to Route 42 and rejoin I-81 at exit 283 at Route 42 in the Woodstock area.
The VDOT Staunton District serves Frederick, Shenandoah, Clarke, Warren, Page, Rockingham, Augusta, Highland, Rockbridge, Alleghany and Bath counties.
