ALL LANES OPEN ON I-81 NORTHBOUND IN HARRISONBURG AREA

STAUNTON – (5:30 p.m.) All Interstate 81 northbound lanes have reopened in the Harrisonburg area following an earlier accident.  This location in the area of mile marker 242 between exit 240 at Route 257 near Mount Crawford and Bridgewater and exit 243 at Route 11 in Harrisonburg.

A mid-morning traffic crash on I-81 near mile marker 242 has caused extended traffic back ups.  
The crash involved a truck carrying milk and involved another vehicle.  

The Virginia Department of Transportation Traffic Operations Center reported traffic backups of up to 12 miles in the northbound lanes.  

Motorists may experience some delays in this area due to congestion following the earlier lane closure.
