STAUNTON – (5:45 a.m.) A tractor-trailer incident has closed the northbound lanes of Interstate 81 at mile marker 5 in West Virginia.

I-81 northbound traffic is being detoured onto exit 323 (Route 669/Flying J Truck Stop) in Frederick County. Traffic is then being directed on to Route 669 east to Route 11 north to Business Park Drive west and back to I-81 north at exit 8 in West Virginia.

No estimate for reopening the lanes has been provided by the Virginia Department of Transportation Staunton Traffic Operations Center.

Motorists should expect significant delays in this area.
