LANE CLOSURES AND DETOURS FOR I-81 NORTHBOUND IN ROCKBRIDGE COUNTY AUGUST 14-16
STAUNTON – Lane closures will occur in Rockbridge County on Interstate 81 northbound in the truck climbing lane project area.
On Aug. 14 from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. all I-81 northbound traffic will be detoured onto Route 11 at exit 195. Traffic will proceed on Route 11 through Fairfield and turn left on to Route 710 to I-81, reentering I-81 at exit 200. Crews will be preparing a traffic shift through the project.
On Aug. 15 and 16 nighttime single lane closures will be from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. each night. The left northbound lane will be closed from mile marker 195 to mile marker 202. Crews will be moving barrier.
All work is weather permitting.
The I-81 truck climbing lane project valued at $74.2 million was awarded by Commonwealth Transportation Board on Feb. 5, 2009 to W. C. English Inc. of Lynchburg. The work zone is along the northbound lanes from mile marker 195.6 to 202.5, which is just north of Lexington.
